A Clerk performs a wide range of office support activities for the sheriff’s office and/or command staff to facilitate the efficient operation of the office, and must have excellent skills when interacting with the public and walk-in customers.

REQUIREMENTS

· Must have a high school diploma or GED.
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
· Must have a valid drivers license.
· Must have a clean criminal history.
· No illicit drug usage.

JOB DUTIES

· A Clerk shall answer, screen and transfer inbound phone calls
· Receive and direct visitors and customers
· Perform general clerical duties including photocopying, fax and mailing
· Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems for papers, criminal reports, and paper citations
· Sort and distribute incoming correspondence
· Respond to requests for county property tax inquiries.
· A Clerk shall assist customers in filling out the appropriate paperwork needed for applying for, renewing, and/or requesting Carry Concealed Deadly Weapons Permits
· Finger-print customers requesting such service
· Inspect vehicles in need of Certified Sheriff Inspection
· Utilize the established computer system to process payment for all above listed transactions
· Balance cash drawers and daily receipts.
· A Clerk shall process summonses, subpoenas, Domestic Violence Orders, Evictions, etc. coming in to the Sheriff’s office for service of process. Such duties shall include utilizing the electronic and physical filing systems; serve civil summonses, subpoenas, and orders falling under the authority of a Clerk to serve; return papers to the issuing court or office.
· A Clerk shall utilize Courtnet 2.0 to receive and process e-filed civil summonses.
· A Clerk shall utilize the E Warrants system to process electronic warrants, criminal summonses, and Domestic Violence Orders both upon receipt and disposition.
· During the tax payment season, a Clerk shall process payments of county property taxes, balance tax payment drawers, and process daily receipts and checkout sheets.
· Special Projects and other duties as assigned.

Other Knowledge and/or Skills

· Ability to work effectively on a daily basis with standard supervision.
· Competent computer skills, proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
· Considerable accounting/mathematical skills; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, commissions and interest.
· Ability to get along with others in the work place and to respect their rights and individual abilities.
· Must be able to be bonded

Physical Demands

· Ability to type using a standard keyboard
· Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
· Ability to speak and hear
· Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
· Reach overhead with hands and arms
· File in and retrieve documents from a filing cabinets
· Must be able to pass a drug test

Pay / Benefits

· 40 hours a week (8am to 4pm)
· Starting pay $19 per hour
